For the First Time in Two Years, Alaska Railroad Is Resuming Its Full Summer Schedule?

The Alaska Railroad has recovered from the epidemic and is operating at full capacity for the first time in two years, according to the company's announcement to Travel + Leisure this week, encouraging visitors to experience Alaska's stunning environment in luxury.

The railroad, which has enormous picture windows and covers over 500 kilometers, will run its full summer timetable, which includes three daily trips, flagstop service, and chartered cruise dordle trains. This achievement occurs a year before the line's 100th birthday, and comes after two years of restricted service owing to the pandemic.

In a statement supplied to T+L, Alaska Railroad Marketing Communications Manager Meghan Clemens stated, "We're delighted to return to a full season of daily summer trains, to provide our customers more choices and flexibility to go out and enjoy Alaska." "Our train lines are the perfect method for guests to see the finest of Alaska while also making their journey a highlight of their vacation."

The Alaska Railroad runs across the state, including to areas of the Chugach National Forest that can only be reached by train. The train connects travelers to coastal towns like Seward from the main depot in downtown Anchorage (with the chance to see moose, bears, eagles, and even beluga whales along the route), as well as to towns further inland like Fairbanks, including a stop at the gates of Denali National Park & Preserve on the way.

Thrill-seekers may board the Hurricane Turn Train, where passengers can wave down the conductor at any moment to board or depart the train. Alternatively, take the Glacier Discovery Train, which departs from Anchorage and makes stops in Girdwood and Whittier, with plans to add a Spencer Glacier Whistle Stop and Grandview Glacier access on June 4.

Travelers who purchase a seat in the train's GoldStar Service class will be seated in a glass-domed compartment and will be served two alcoholic beverages and soft drinks. Travelers may also go to a second-level outdoor observation platform for fantastic wildlife photography possibilities along the routes.

In addition, when an adult Adventure Class price is purchased, children under the age of 12 travel free on specified routes.
