HISTORY OF THE NIKE AIR PATTA

In 1987, Nike, along with one of its up-and-coming designers, Tinker Hatfield, made a breakthrough in both sneaker technology and design with the Air Patta. etc. was presented on the outside in various colors.

Hatfield took these designs with him to Oregon. The result was the first running shoe to discover a shock-absorbing air bladder, and it started a revolution in running shoe design. With Hatfield's success, the Air Patta. line was born, and with it came the systematic development and improvement of the series' design and Air technology.

Initially, the Air Patta line was about innovation and design, you can remember one of the first advertising photos of the Air Patta 1 where light penetrates through the shock absorber. Until now, this picture pops up in the minds of people at the mention of the Air Patta series.

Nike experimented with walking shoes in 1988 (Nike Air Patta) and reworked the Air Patta 1 into the Air Patta Light in 1989. Air Patta Light became lighter than Air Patta by replacing polyurethane with Phylon technology. However, the true spiritual continuation of the Air Patta came the following year with the Air Patta 90,

then called the Air Patta III, which became one of the most successful Air Patta shoes in Nike history. At that stage in the Air Patta line, Hatfield was challenged to repeat what he had done with the Air Jordan line when he became the chief designer of the Jordan III - to take a successful but nascent line of sneakers and refine it in terms of function, style and design. .

Each release of the Air Jordan, led by Hatfield, will feature exotic new materials, performance enhancements and design innovations. never seen before in athletic basketball shoes. Now, looking back at the fully realized Air Jordan line, you can clearly see that the Jordan I obviously laid the groundwork, but this line really hit its stride with the Jordan III. The same thing happened with the Air Patta line.

Where the Air Patta 1 exposed the air unit and provided a glimpse into the inside of the shoe, the Air Patta 90 brought to the fore an advanced cushioning with a bold infrared window that virtually made it impossible to miss. The same thing happened with the Air Patta line.

While the Air Patta stuck to the mainstream red and blue colorways for its original colorways, the Air Patta 90 played around with its "infrared" colorway at the time. The '90s neon red-pink blend better known as, you guessed it, "infrared" was as bold as Air's new approach and was offset by black, white and grey.
